Liliia Antoniuk

Founder of the ‘Girls Leadership Academy’ project, Executive Director of the NGO ‘Women's League’, EU4Youth Alumna

Liliia has been interested in gender equality and women's and girls' leadership since childhood, and she began to study them professionally in 2015 in Stockholm, Sweden, working at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). She has worked for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA Ukraine), the National Democratic Institute (NDI Ukraine), the Charitable Foundation ‘Equality and Mutual Respect’, the NGO ‘Women's Consortium of Ukraine’ and other organizations that implement projects in the field of gender equality and protection and promotion of women's and girls' rights in Ukraine and abroad. This experience confirmed Liliia’s opinion that to ensure that the rights of women and girls are not violated, among other things, it is important that women and girls know them, understand how to defend them, and are not afraid to do so.

Therefore, when in her role as Executive Director of the NGO ‘Women's League’ Liliia became a part of the EU4Youth Alumni Network in 2020, the idea of creating the ‘Girls Leadership Academy’ project arose organically based on her experience of working and communicating with women and girls in her professional and volunteer activities for over the past 7+ years.

Liliia believes that one of the most important parts of the project is creating a community of like-minded people who support and care for each other, because ‘we are strong when we are together’.

Since the age of 13, Daryna has been interested in project management and gender equality, so it is not surprising that she became part of the cohort of graduates of the ‘Girls Leadership Academy 1.0’ project. The atmosphere of mutual support and self-development that prevailed during the project gave Daryna the motivation to try herself as a manager of the ‘Girls Leadership Academy 2.0’ project.

In addition, the girl develops herself in many other areas: she is a Young European Ambassador, SMM-manager in the project ‘enWAR_mental’, and a student of the Faculty of History of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Daryna is convinced that a person's success depends on how developed their soft skills are, so she makes every effort to help others become the best version of themselves.
